The WSOP is in full swing in Las Vegas and the WSOP Main Event is already drawing players from here and there to the poker tables of Rio All-Suite Resort & Casino. The casino might be the center of poker action right now, but it is far from being the only place in the United States where quality poker action is slated to take place this week.
There are a number of exciting tournaments scheduled to kick off in the next few days and they all promise poker thrill and excitement as well as hefty payouts for those running deep. Here are some such events and a little more information about what players could expect from them.
Florida State Poker ChampionshipIsle Casino Pompano Park in Pompano Beach, Florida will kindly host the championship festival from July 5 through the end of the month. Its schedule includes a plethora of tournaments for all types of players.
There will be as many as 17 tournaments to take place over the course of the festival. Most of them will be No-Limit Hold’em, but there will also be several other formats included.
Buy-ins for the events will start from $130 and will go all the way up to $1,500 for the Main Event. The highlight tournament will take place over six days starting from July 26 and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.
The Florida State Poker Championship will feature two more tournaments with six-figure guarantees – the opening $175 No-Limit Hold’em $100,000 guaranteed and the $360 No-Limit Hold’em with a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000 starting July 12.
25 for 25 Anniversary TournamentTurning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona, New York is turning 25 this year and what better way to celebrate than a thrilling poker tournament. The anniversary event is scheduled to kick off on July 6 and will run through July 15. It will feature nine days with between two and three starting flights per day and a final day of play on July 15.
The buy-in for the event will be $25, of course. And entries will have the chance to win a share of a guaranteed prize pool of $25,000. However, with the multiple opportunities for players to enter the event, it will not be a surprise if the guarantee is crashed at some point.

The event’s schedule features 20 different tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $125 to $1,650. There will be mostly No-Limit Hold’em events within the festival, but Omaha fans will, too, not be disappointed as they will be able to enter several such tournaments.
The Main Event will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 and players will have to pay $1,650 to enter it. The tournament is set to kick off on July 27 and contenders will fight for the title over three days through July 29.
MSPT Regional – MilwaukeePotawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will be host to the next Mid-States Poker Tour regional event. Satellites for the actual tournament began in mid-June and will be played at the poker room of the host casino through July 12.
The $350 Main Event will take place from July 12 through July 15 when the winner will be determined. The tournament will feature three starting flights and one more day of play. It will kick off with a $200,000 guarantee that might be exceeded depending on the number of entries.
Matthew Vignali topped a field of 1,658 entries in last year’s edition of the tournament to collect a first-place prize of $80,648 from a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool that eventually reached $481,478 due to the massive interest.
